From a small kitchen in Missoula to a beloved local institution — discover the people, values, and flavors that make Cafe Rio a place to come back to.
Cafe Rio started in 2013 as a dream shared between two childhood friends — Maria and Carlos — who believed that great food shouldn't be complicated. Armed with their grandmother's recipes and a passion for fresh, honest ingredients, they opened our first small counter on N Reserve Street in Missoula, Montana.
What began as a 12-seat cafe quickly became a community gathering place. Neighbors, students, families and visitors all found something they loved on our menu. Today, we've grown our team and space, but our promise remains exactly the same: every dish is made fresh, every ingredient is sourced thoughtfully, and every guest is treated like family.
We partner with Montana farms to bring the freshest seasonal produce and proteins to your plate.
No shortcuts. Every sauce, bread, and dish is prepared from scratch by our dedicated kitchen team daily.
We give back to Missoula through local events, school programs, and support for neighborhood initiatives.
Everything we do is guided by a simple philosophy: good food, good people, good impact. These are the values we live by every single day.
We use only the finest seasonal ingredients, sourced from local Montana producers whenever possible. No frozen shortcuts, ever.
Cafe Rio is more than a restaurant — it's a neighborhood hub. We invest in local causes, partnerships, and the people around us.
Every guest deserves to feel welcome. Our team is trained not just in food — but in creating moments that make people smile.
From compostable packaging to minimizing food waste, we take our environmental responsibility seriously and act on it daily.
A decade of growth, growth, and more growth — built one dish at a time.
